About Jennifer

I'm a self taught Naive Artist living in Lutruwita (Tasmania.)  As a teenager I dabbled in my awkward drawings and paintings. In my young adult years I quietly continued painting, but social norms made it a struggle for my neurodivergent brain to find my milieu until I came across a book, "World Encyclopedia of Naive Art." It depicted artworks of naive artists from all over the world. Joyous liberation! The floodgates opened and I painted without inhibition. I had found my creative home in Naive Art.

That was thirty eight years ago, and I'm still painting today with the same sense of freedom and peace.

The whimsical nature of my paintings hint at the invisible presence behind the veil of nature's splendour. That indefinable something which we sense in misty woodlands, in ancient outcrops of rocks, in the moss gardens under old trees, or in the eyes of a bird or our non-human companions. To my mind and heart, the vast diversity of earth is truly a wonder, whether they be plant, animal, fungi, mineral or all the myriad things.

I paint by hand only, using acrylic paints. I am starting this project with Fine Art prints but will also have small original paintings on canvas available with my new collection.

I hope my whimsical paintings bring a little light into your life.
